Especially if we pass Health care reform with a single payer or public option, since he'd dedicated his life to universal health care. (dont get me wrong I really want us to pass with atleast a public option, just saying it'd suck that he had to miss it)

And now sadly, it'll be even harder to do as we lose a democrat in the senate.

They need 60 yes votes. It's estimated if ted kennedy voted they'd have gotten 43.

Well there's essentially three party's right now excluding independents. Democrats, Republicans & "Blue Dog Democrats", who are actually siding with the republicans in like everything, but are officially labeled as Democrats. So while it seems the Democrats have this huge majority in the senate, its actually a pretty slight majority. Basically, Democrats want to pass Obama's bill, Republicans dont want to pass anything (being rich they get good health care so they dont give a) and the "Blue Dogs" dont seem to know what they want.

Why does it have to be this way? Why can't any of the parties just get along...

Political upperhand. Republicans are calling Obama a socialist, comparing him to Hitler, and flat out refusing to agree to anything Obama tries to do to get their support. Meanwhile Democrats arent being agressive enough to stop this non-sense and fight back. I'm 100% Democrat, but we should be passing this bill with a Single-Payer system EASILY but sadly Obama wants support from both party's, which is really costing us and his approval ratings.

Democrats need to play asshole back to the Republicans to hopefully see if that might help the balance of things here.
