I only really carry potions for the first one or two gym leaders, and thats usually only if the starter I chose is weak to that leaders type. Other than that I might consider giving Purp-Drank the move Rest and carrying a shit load of awakenings, but thats about it. Full Restores/Revives when I face the Elite 4.

When I was younger, I was the worst strategist. I used to go to the Gyms as soon as I could. I didn't train to make sure that I was stronger and I didn't carry potions around.

I always had all offensive moves. I didn't think strategy either, I just wanted to knock heads. I'd have like a pokemon with 3 or 4 fighting moves, all offensive, now I try not to teach two moves of the same kind to one pokemon and I try to do more stuff like Yawn/Rest/Snore and Sleep Powder/Sunny Day/Solar Beam to name a few.
LeafGreen - Got level 40 Charizard, Primeape, Snorelax & Butterfree right now, just got the fifth badge, trying to add a Cloyster soon.
Edit - Just found out Cloyster is FireRed exclusive - kinda pissed cause I ditched my Vaporeon awhile ago for Cloyster.

I used to go all offensive, too. I didn't bother to find out what the other moves did. With Pearl, I found out what the moves did and it would often make battling easier, having those other moves there.

I always had the moves like Hyper Beam, Fire Blast, etc and didn't think about, does this move help a pokemon fight someone it's weak against? Is it an Attk. or Sp.Attk, that kind of thing either.
I um..I'm getting more and more pissed with LeafGreen. Played it for like an hour without saving and it shut off, so now I don't have the Weepingbell I'd raised a couple levels, and now I gotta go to that punk ass Three Island, catch Weepingbell, go to some stupid forest again, rescue this girl from Hypno, go back to One Island, go to Mt. Ember and battle Moltres (catching would take too long) and then I can finally hopefully go back to Safron City, and evolve Weepingbell.

So much hassle.
When I was younger, I'd only save it before I turned it off. In recent times, I would save the game quite often.

Well I ended up re-doing it all and then not even keeping Victreebell on my team. I got a Magmar instead (replacing Charizard), along with Pidgeot (replacing Primeape) and Persian (replacing Victreebell), but the Persian will probably get replaced by Kabutops. I'm keeping Kabuto in the Day-Care center at the moment, he's level 31, I'll keep him there 8 more levels and then take him out to evolve him at 40, before going to fight Giovanni for that 8th badge.

Can you read the Japanese? Well I ended up re-doing it all and then not even keeping Victreebell on my team. It's strange how we have a want to have certain Pokemon in our party. I don't play Pokemon anymore, but sometimes I would want certain Pokemon for unknown reasons?

Well it's like, their is so many of them, and for me I like to use pokemon that I don't usually use alot. Like, normally I'll just go Starter, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Gyrados, Hitmonchan/lee, Weezing/Lapras. This time I tried to avoid that, I'm not sure if I'll keep Snorelax in the party or out. I suddenly want an Electrode, so if I see one at a reasonable level he'll probably replace him.
Oh and I found wild Primeape one level higher than what I'd trained mine from a Mankey up to. Pissed me off.

That used to be annoying when you'd spend heaps of time with a Pokemon and then find a wild one that was actually better!

It takes long enough to train a team for the elite four as it is, especially when you waste your time training something that can be caught. This time though, my levels have been a few higher than my rivals, usually they're a little bit lower, so I must be doing something right. Kabuto is around level 35. I caught three different caterpie's yesterday trying to get a Metapod that would know Tackle, Harden and String Shot. As if you level caterpie to 8 accidentally before evolving, metapod won't learn harden. It took me alot longer than it should have.

You spend so much more time training in the game than you do progressing in the story. If you don't train though, it's hard to progress.

There's almost no story anyway. Hopefully they add some story and less training to Black/White.
I heard a rumor the battle style may be more "real-time."
