In its impenetrable fog of really really bad bands, I think there are some really cool indie artists out there. It seems like an adventure sometimes to find a really good one, surrounded by all the crap. But at the same time, it does seem sort of pretentious to say the music you like is stuff no one else has ever heard of. And hey, no one wants to be a hipster.
So how do you feel about Indie music? Do you like it? Hate it? Any favorite bands/artists? I'm a huge fan of a band called Arcade Fire, myself.

I only really listen to well known stuff. You do mean Indie rock, right?

I only really listen to well known stuff. You do mean Indie rock, right? Yeah, I do. Although Indie music has become a lot more widespread as of recently. Electronic, and even some rap stuff call themselves "indie", but they often are just silly.

I've listened to a tiny bit of The Smiths here and there, but not really Morrissey alone. He's pretty swell, then?

Really its anyone who you would hear very rarely, if even at all, on the radio or MTV. Indie just stands for independent, meaning on an independent record label.
